Town shop boost.

A SCOTTISH company has launched a new shop in the North East.

The Semichem store, in King Street, South Shields South Shields, city (1991 pop. 86,488), South Tyneside, NE England, at the mouth of the Tyne River. It is a significant port. Shipbuilding and marine engineering are the main industries; chemicals and paints are manufactured.  town centre, is the first to be launched in England by the hair and beauty chain.

It was officially opened by Mayor and Mayoress of South Tyneside South Tyneside is a metropolitan borough in Tyne and Wear in North East England.

It is bordered by four other boroughs - Newcastle upon Tyne and Gateshead to the west, Sunderland in the south, and North Tyneside to the north.
, Coun John Anglin and his wife Chris.

Coun Anglin, who cut the ribbon, said: "It was a pleasure to declare the new Semichem store officially open. It's all the more significant that the company has chosen to come to South Tyneside to set up its very first store in England.

"This is a welcome boost for the borough and very important for King Street in South Shields, which is experiencing hard times."
