Denbigh (Welsh: Dinbych) was county town of the traditional county of Denbighshire, Wales before 1888.
plum is one of the fruit-growing world's little known gems, but the town aims to change that.

They are holding the first ever Denbigh Plum Festival next Saturday Saturday: see week; Sabbath.  and to mark the occasion master baker Alwyn Thomas has concocted a special recipe.

Using plums harvested from trees in the town he will serve up a Denbigh Plum Cake straight from the oven that morning.

Alwyn, who has been supplying the town with bread and cakes from his High Street store since 1972, said: "The idea of a Denbigh plum cake was suggested to me a long time ago and with the Festival coming up it seems the right time to do it.

"It's been a fantastic year for plums and I think it's a wonderful idea to celebrate something that's unique to Denbigh - lots of places have festivals but not many have a fruit named after them.

"Denbigh has so much to offer - historically it's been one of the most important towns in Wales This is a link page for towns in Wales. For convenience, cities have also been listed, marked in bold.  and now there's lots going on again with new shops opening and things happening."

The idea for the Festival has come from The Denbigh Business Growth Officer Sue Muse and will take place at the Market Hall.
