Toshiba to Release Metal Halide Lamp With Special Coating to Absorb Ultraviolet Rays.Tokyo, Japan, Feb 27, 2007 - (JCN JCN Japan Corporate News JCN Journal of Cognitive Neuroscience JCN Journal of Cardiovascular Nursing JCN Journal of Christian Nursing JCN Job Control Number JCN Journal of Child Neurology JCN joint communications network (US DoD) ) - Toshiba Lighting & Technology Corporation (Toshiba) has developed a metal halide lamp Metal halide lamps, a member of the high-intensity discharge (HID) family of lamps, produce high light output for their size, making them a compact, powerful, and efficient light source. with a specialized clear coating that absorbs 99% of the ultraviolet rays Ultraviolet rays Invisible light rays with a wavelength shorter than that of visible light but longer than that of x rays. Mentioned in: Sunscreens that attract insects. This new lamp cuts down on the number of such insects by as much as 75% compared with conventional mercury lamps. The special coating absorbs and reduces the emission of light with wavelengths lower than 400nm so the lamp will appear dark to the insects while bright to humans (humans can see light with wavelengths between 380 to 780nm). Toshiba plans to market this lamp for use at outdoor sports gyms, gasoline gasoline or petrol, light, volatile mixture of hydrocarbons for use in the internal-combustion engine and as an organic solvent, obtained primarily by fractional distillation and "cracking" of petroleum, but also obtained from natural gas, by stands, and for street lights. The lamp is slated to be released at the beginning of March. Copyright [c] 2007 Japan Corporate News Network. All rights reserved. |
