Toshiba selects ATI platform technology to power new line of satellite notebooks.

ATI Technologies U.L.C. ATI is a major Canadian designer and supplier of graphics processing units, motherboard chipsets, and video display cards.
 Inc. has announced that Toshiba has selected RADEON IGP (1) (Interior Gateway Protocol) A broad category of routing protocols that support a single, confined geographic area such as a local area network (LAN). Contrast with EGP. See routing protocol.  platform technology for a new line of Satellite notebooks. One of the world's top notebook manufacturers, Toshiba will use RADEON 7000 IGP and RADEON 9000IGP technology in four new A-series Satellite notebook designs. Designed as desktop replacements, Toshiba's A-series notebooks offer users a range of designs to choose from including business value, high end performance and content creation. In addition to ATI's integrated graphics Refers to having the video display circuitry of a computer contained directly on the motherboard rather than on a separate plug-in card (the display adapter). Integrated graphics typically share memory with the CPU (see shared video memory) and provide a more economical alternative to the  platform technology, Toshiba will also be using the award-winning MOBILITY RADEON 9700 to power the SatelliteP10-824.

Toshiba will offer four new Satellite notebook designs based on ATI (ATI Technologies Inc., Markham Ontario, http://ati.amd.com) A leading manufacturer of graphics chips and display adapters. Founded in 1985 by K. Y. Ho, Benny Lau and Lee Lau, ATI chips and boards are widely used by OEMs.  platform technology. For the digital media connoisseur, Toshiba offers the A75, which boasts an Intel Pentium 4 processor and a host of connectivity options for digital media and peripherals. For the desktop replacement, the A70 includes top-of-the-line desktop components, wide screen display and integrated wireless connectivity. For the entry level consumer and commercial users, Toshiba offers the A60 and A65. These notebooks feature Intel Celeron Processors and come equipped with such features as CD-RW/ DVD-ROM DVD-ROM: see digital versatile disc.
