Toshiba offers build options on notebooks for on-line buyers.

Toshiba's Computer Systems Group (CSG) has announced the ability for customers to build a Toshiba notebook computer to their own specifications and purchase directly on shoptoshiba.com. Consumers, small business professionals and public sector customers will be able to order options on Toshiba's Satellite, Satellite Pro, Portege and Tecra families of notebook computers. Configuration options include Intel processors, integrated wireless connectivity preferences (Wi-Fi (IEEE 802.11b) and/or Bluetooth), memory, hard drives, productivity software, and optical drives. These options may vary depending on the specific product ordered.

"Toshiba is expanding beyond build-to-stock systems and offering a quick and easy way to customize a notebook to fit the individual needs of our customers," says Mark Simons, vice president transactional business group for Toshiba CSG. "We've listened to our customer's feedback and are answering their call to have direct access to Toshiba mobile technology on various levels and at all times."

Toshiba presently offers build-to-order (BTO) options on eight different chassis within its various notebook computer lines and the number will increase as new products are introduced. Each chassis is designed to specifically address the productivity needs of consumers and business professionals alike. Shipment on BTO products is anticipated within ten business days from the date of the order.
