Toshiba Matsushita Display Technology Develops Low-temperature Polysilicon TFT LCD with Finger Shadow Sensing Capability.


Tokyo, Japan, Oct 6, 2005 - (JCNN JCNN Japan Corporate News Network ) - Toshiba Matsushita Display Technology Co. has developed prototype low-temperature polysilicon TFT LCD (Thin Film Transistor LCD) See LCD. , where touching icons and buttons on the screen directly with a finger activates their functions.

Achieving high-speed switching, greater photo sensor sensitivity, and precise signal processing, the LCD incorporates advanced finger shadow sensing capability.

As in the company's previous input display products, the new LCD adopts the proprietary SOG (system-on-glass) technology, while photo sensors and signal processing functions are integrated on the LCD's glass, allowing for applications on mobile devices. Display size is 2.4 inch.

The prototype is on display at CEATEC CEATEC Combined Exhibition of Advanced Technologies (Technology and Electronics Exhibition, Japan)  JAPAN 2005, held at the Makuhari Messe from October 4 to 8.
