Toshiba Matsushita Display Technology Begins Commercial Production of Thin, Light 11.1-inch Low-temperature Polysilicon TFT LCDs.Tokyo, Japan, Oct 20, 2005 - (JCNN JCNN Japan Corporate News Network ) - Toshiba Matsushita Display Technology has developed and started production of a thin, lightweight 11.1-inch wide-format low-temperature polysilicon TFT LCDs for use in notebook PCs. The new LCD panel combines the company's glass polishing techniques with its new LED (light emitting diode See LED. ) backlighting system as well as employs a very flat structure that integrates the LCD's driving circuits directly to the surface of the LCD glass, to achieve the thickness of 2.75mm (at the thickest part), almost half that of conventional displays, and the weight of 146g, about 35% less. The 1366x768-pixel module measures 255x158.9x2.75mm. The company will show the latest LCD technology at FPD (1) (Flat Panel Display) See LCD, plasma display, EL display, FED and flat panel display.
