Toshiba Introduces First Satellite Notebooks with Intel(R) Core(TM) Duo and Core Solo Processors; Satellite(R) M100 Series with 14.1-inch Diagonal Widescreen Display Offers Performance and Mobility Starting at $1,034.

), a division of Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., today introduced the Satellite(R) M100 Series notebooks, its first Satellite products incorporating the Intel(R) Core(TM) Duo and Intel Core The latest generation of the Intel x86 family of CPUs. Core supersedes the 13-year run of the Pentium, which was introduced in 1993. It essentially represents the ninth generation of the x86 architecture, the first chip appearing in the IBM PC in 1981.  Solo processors(a) for enhanced performance and mobility. The products are available from www.ToshibaDirect.com with prices starting at $1,034.

The processors are part of the latest Intel Centrino(R) Mobile Technology that reduces power consumption while boosting overall performance from graphics to wireless capabilities. Other major Intel Centrino Mobile Technology components have been updated in the new platform, including the Mobile Intel 945 Express chipset and the Intel PRO/Wireless(b) 3945 ABG ABG

Starting at 5.2 pounds(c) and designed for consumers who want on-the-go productivity and entertainment, the Satellite M100 series notebook also includes:

--a 14.1-inch WXGA (Wide XGA) A wide screen resolution of 1366x768 pixels. See PC display modes.

The standard limited warranty includes carry-in support at Authorized Service Providers throughout the country, or the customer may use any of the more than 3,000 UPS Stores for packaging and delivery of the product to a centralized depot for prompt service turnaround. Customers can also choose to upgrade the notebook's service plans, including up to four years of extended service plans.
