Toshiba Announces New Satellite(R) Notebooks Featuring Windows Vista(TM).

IRVINE, Calif. -- Toshiba's Digital Products Division, a division of Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., today announced that its award-winning Satellite([R]) P105 and Satellite U205 notebook computer lines are available soon with either Windows Vista The current version of Windows for the desktop. It was released in late 2006 for businesses and early 2007 for consumers.

Vista adds numerous features, including improved security and advanced multimedia capabilities.
([TM]) Ultimate or Windows Vista([TM]) Home Premium.

Built to meet the needs of an increasingly computer-centric public, Genuine Windows Vista provides advanced features for using the PC more effectively while enhancing the digital-entertainment experience. With Windows Vista, users have standard tools such as Windows Photo Gallery Windows Photo Gallery (WPG) is a photo management, tagging, and editing tool that is included in Windows Vista. Windows Photo Gallery is available in all editions of Windows Vista; however, themed photo slideshows are only available in the Home Premium and Ultimate editions.  and Windows Movie Maker to collect, manage and edit digital content, heightening the computing experience.

Windows Vista offers several significant enhancements over Windows XP The previous client version of Windows. XP was a major upgrade to the client version of Windows 2000 with numerous changes to the user interface. XP improved support for gaming, digital photography, instant messaging, wireless networking and sharing connections to the Internet. , Microsoft's previous operating system, including: a new user interface, Windows Aero[TM], which provides advanced animations and visual feedback; Quick Search, an advanced search engine that automatically organizes information to search files, e-mails and applications; and User Account Control, which improves the safety and security of Vista PCs by giving users the ability to decide if certain potentially dangerous software is allowed to make changes to your computer. The new operating system works with Windows Defender Windows Defender, previously known as Microsoft AntiSpyware, is a software product from Microsoft designed to prevent, remove and quarantine spyware in Microsoft Windows. It is part of Windows Vista and available as a free download for previous supported versions of Windows.  and Internet Explorer Microsoft's Web browser, which comes with Windows starting with Windows 98. Commonly called "IE," versions for Mac and Unix are also available. Internet Explorer is the most widely used Web browser on the market. It has also been the browser engine in AOL's Internet access software.  to help reduce the impact of viruses, spyware and other threats.

Both the Satellite P105 and Satellite U205 notebook lines feature:

Satellite U205

As Toshiba's first ultra-portable notebook for the retail market, the Satellite U205 measures 1.34-inches thin and has a starting weight of 4.1 pounds2. Featuring a 12.1-inch diagonal widescreen TruBrite([R]) LCD display, the Satellite U205 line also includes Toshiba's exclusive LifeSmart Technology([TM]) which consists of a number of hardware and software enhancements that increase security, stability, performance, wireless connectivity and overall ease-of-use in the notebook series. The enhancements include shock-absorbing technologies to protect the hard drive, a spill-resistant keyboard6 and a biometric fingerprint reader for added security.

The Satellite U205-S5057 includes a 160GB hard drive4 and 1024MB PC4200 DDR2 SDRAM memory1 for an estimated single unit price (ESUP) of $1,2995. The Satellite U205-S5067 features a 160GB hard drive4 and 2048MB PC4200 DDR2 SDRAM memory1 for an ESUP of $1,5995.

The standard limited warranty includes carry-in support at Authorized Service Providers throughout the country, or the customer may use any of the more than 3,000 UPS Stores for packaging and delivery of the product to a centralized depot for prompt service turnaround. Customers can also choose to upgrade the notebook's service plans, including up to four years of extended service plans.

The Satellite P105 and Satellite U205 notebooks will be available for purchase on January 30, 20078 and February 6, 20078 respectively, at major consumer electronics and computer stores nationwide.
