Toshiba Adopts Synopsys' UMTS Reference Design Kits for 3GPP and W-CDMA Development.

New Synopsys' World-Class System-Level Design Environment Speeds

Time-to-Market For Next-Generation Handsets

Synopsys, Inc. (Nasdaq:SNPS) the technology leader for complex integrated circuit (IC) design, today announced that its wireless communications design environment is being used by the Telecommunications Research Laboratory of Toshiba Research Europe Ltd (TRL), in the development of global third generation (G3G) technologies.

TRL is using Synopsys' G3G UMTS reference design kit (RDK), the industry's first design kit to provide detailed UMTS layer 1 descriptions and system-level testbenches. Work includes the study of GSM/GPRS performance and optimization as well as study of future W-CDMA algorithms and architectures.

By offering these standard components, the Synopsys design environment accelerates time-to-market, and frees customers to focus on areas where they can add value in their end products, such as incorporating extra features, distinctive styling or ergonomic design.
