J In December of 1696, 14-year-old Daniel Markham joins his father and pregnant stepmother Faith aboard his father's ship the Gray Pearl to sail from Boston to Jamaica where his father has secured plantation land. Only a day out to sea, their ship is attacked by pirates and burned, and Daniel's father shot before his eyes by Josiah Black, his father's former friend. Bound by his oath to his father to take care of Faith and her child, Daniel agrees to become a member of the pirate crew in exchange for Faith's release, and so begins his life aboard the Tempest Galley as an unwilling pirate. Over time, he comes to accept his fate, and even allows Captain Black to teach him to fight. During a stop at a pirate island, Daniel stumbles upon hidden booty BOOTY, war.
