Toray Ireeve Releases Ultrasonic Electric Toothbrush.

) - Toray Ireeve released Ultima UT-600, the latest model in its ultrasonic ultrasonic /ul·tra·son·ic/ (-son´ik) beyond the upper limit of perception by the human ear; relating to sound waves having a frequency of more than 20,000 Hz.

 series Ultima, on July 7. The new product emits 1.6MHz (MegaHertZ) One million cycles per second. It is used to measure the transmission speed of electronic devices, including channels, buses and the computer's internal clock. A one-megahertz clock (1 MHz) means some number of bits (16, 32, 64, etc.  ultrasonic waves from the compact head to effectively remove plaque.

A package including a toothbrush, recharger, and two replacement heads sells for 18,900 yen (US$165). A set of two replacement heads retails for 1,260 yen (US$11).

The company aims to sell 100,000 units in the first year and 300,000 units in the third year. The Japanese electric toothbrush market is estimated at 9 billion yen (US$78.2 mil).
