TopTier Software Inc. today announced a non-exclusive technology licensing, bundling and distribution agreement with Baan Company N.V. (Nasdaq:BAANF)(ASE:BAAN).

Baan will include TopTier's HyperRelational(tm) technology in select enterprise resource planning (ERP), decision support, e-commerce, finance, supply chain and front-office applications. Baan will also resell the TopTier Product Suite and will bundle HyperRelational-enabled products with Baan shipments.

TopTier's HyperRelational(tm) technology integrates enterprise applications and disparate data sources transparently to the user with minimal IT maintenance, support and training costs. TopTier's freeform navigation metaphor, Drag and Relate(tm), lets experienced and novice users intuitively interact with data so that they can quickly and easily correlate data from enterprise applications to reach conclusions faster and make better, more informed business decisions.

Baan will integrate its applications using TopTier Software's HyperRelational technology to provide a unified, Web-based interface that gives users easy access to Baan information assets. Under the terms of the agreement, Baan will bundle Baan Data Navigator Plus, the first HyperRelational-enabled product co-developed with TopTier, with Baan IV and BaanERP systems.

Baan Data Navigator Plus allows users to seamlessly access and navigate through the information found in their Baan IV and BaanERP systems, without having to access individual screens or be trained on each module or session to access the data.

HyperRelational technology enables Baan Enterprise Decision Manager to introduce multi-dimensional navigation through the Internet and to integrate both operational and analytical data stores into a single environment.

Users can access and combine information gathered from trend or in-depth analysis and drill down to find detailed information in their day-to-day transactional environment, and vice-versa, to obtain unique views of business information.

In the future, Baan will develop a series of products based on HyperRelational technology for users of BaanFrontOffice, Baan Corporate Office Solutions and Baan Supply Chain Solutions with the same attributes of Baan Data Navigator Plus and Baan Enterprise Decision Manager. These products will extend the benefits of Web-based integration, navigation and correlation by linking additional disparate data sources with the BaanSeries application suite.
