Top trends to watch in 2006: see what the editors of Wood & Wood Products will be keeping a close eye on this year.


What issues are on the minds of Wood & Wood Products" editors entering 2006?

The pace of housing starts, the growth of wood products imports, the trials and tribulations of the ready-to-assemble furniture Ready-to-assemble (RTA) furniture, also known as "knock-down furniture" or "flat packs", is furniture supplied as a kit of flat parts and fasteners to be assembled, usually by the end user, with simple tools.  industry and the mounting battle between High Point and Las Vegas for furniture market supremacy to name a few.

. W&WP wilt examine the State of the Composite Panel Industry in June, including the sudden emergence of new players created via headline-grabbing acquisitions, such as Koch Industries purchase of Georgia-Pacific and the development of alternatives to traditional particleboard and MDF.

* The pulse of major sectors of manufacturing. The popular State of the Industry series continues in 2006 with a focus on such segments as flooring in February; cabinets in April; windows and doors in August; office furniture in October; and woodworking machinery in December.

 2006: North America's premiere woodworking show plays a starring role on W&WP's 2006 Editorial Calendar. Major coverage includes an exclusive report on first-time exhibitors in March, the IWF 2006 Tech Tour in June, a comprehensive preview of the show in July and a post-show report in October.
