Top transportation firms recognized for excellence: quality and shipper performance awards.


Eleven transportation firms and 12 shippers received the Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command's top recognition for performance at the organization's annual training symposium award ceremony April 27 in Nashville, Tenn.

The awards are presented annually to Department of Defense approved commercial transportation firms whose performance is so superlative that they deserve recognition through the Quality Awards Program.

The award recipients for 2005 are:

American Presidents Lines Company of Washington D.C.

Boyle Transportation Company of Massachusetts

Cargo Transport Systems of Kuwait

The winning selections were based on data obtained from the Worldwide Port System, and review of the shippers' performance by the documentation branch, SDDC SDDC Surface Deployment and Distribution Command (formerly Military Traffic Management Command)

 operations center.
