If you're a freak for The Nightmare Before Christmas, here's one from Tim Burton. The date is all set--Victor is to marry the very-alive Victoria. But before he can make it to the altar, he winds up inadvertently hitched to a gnarly ghouly-girl. Grave mistake.

Dreamer

Dakota Fanning is Cale, and her dad has just "inherited" an injured racehorse considered to be worthless ... no-more-good ... outta the race ... kaput. But Cale is determined to inspire her dad to put his horse-training skills to work on Sonya (that's the horse's name) and enter her in the Breeders' Cup Classic. This movie had us alternating between cheering and reaching for the tissues.

We love The Like--they're our new favorite girl group. Charlotte, Tennessee and Z get down with tough-girl edge but never let you forget their softer side. Songs like "What I Say and What I Mean," "Too Late" and "Waves That Never Break" command some serious respect and, clearly, the girls deserve just that.

The Veronicas THE SECRET LIFE OF THE VERONICAS

We're in like with The Veronicas, too; let's count the ways. 1) Fun beats. 2) Lyrics you can so relate to: "Leave me alone, get out of my face." 3) Unwavering harmony between the twin-sister duo ... neither named Veronica. They're Jess and Lisa. Or Lisa and Jess?

YMI THE OTHERSIDE

No girls, three guys--pounding out lotsa sound. And while this is guitar-driven power-grit, most of the lyrics (laid down by singer/bassist Baris) convey an air of broken promises and dead-end dreams. Baris articulates every word he spits from his lips, and the message is loud 'n' clear: When in doubt, rock out!
