 West area of Amsterdam, this scheme forms part of a three-block masterplan by Jo Crepain that includes social housing and a health centre. Fretton's block, on a site overlooking o·ver·look

Armature

That part of an electric rotating machine which includes the main current-carrying winding.
 for a range of uses which change and evolve over time, including work and retail spaces, cafes, a hotel and apartments. Fretton's response is a set of neutral yet distinctive spaces that can easily accommodate different functions. External areas are presented as open gardens overlooking a green roof, offering a sense of intimacy and isolation within the bustle bus·tle 1
