Stargate Atlantis (five, 8pm

PHILOSOPHERS and adventurers have dreamed of locating the mythical world of Atlantis for centuries, but in this sci-fi spin-off series, the city holds far more terrors than w e could ever imagine.

For those not in the know, a team of scientists have travelled through the Stargate and found themselves in Atlantis.

Unfortunately, their chances of returning t o Earth are scuppered when they discover the region has limited power supplies, leaving the intrepid boffins facing the horror of never being able to return home

Coast (BBC2, 9pm

GRAB your wellies and don your sou'wester for the latest instalment of the series exploring Britain's coastline.

The team of experts travel to the south coast of Wales, which has the world's second highest tidal range.

Geographer Nick Crane explains how this creates the Severn Bore, a surge of water, makes a wave which can sometimes reach as high as six feet, while anthropologist Alice Roberts meets the Red Lady of Paviland, who - at more than 26,000 years old - is believed to be Britain's oldest human skeleton

24 (BBC1, 11.20pm

SETTLE back on the sofa for not one, not two, but three exciting episodes of the acclaimed real-time drama shown back-to-back.

The series has rejuvenated actor Kiefer Sutherland's career and he relishes his role as CTU agent Jack Bauer - and the world can't get enough of his dangerous misadventures.

Things are now really hotting up for all involved. Thankfully, Teri and Kim finally make it to the safe house where Nina begins the difficult process of learning more about the kidnappers
