Today sees last two fall concerts.


Byline: The Register-Guard

Percussionists and gospel singers will conclude fall term's series of concerts today at the University of Oregon School of Music, 961 E. 18th Ave.

The University Percussion Ensemble, directed by Tracy Freeze, will give a concert at 2 p.m. today in Room 198 of the music building. Tickets, available at the door, are $5 for general admission and $3 for students and senior citizens.

The program includes marimba transcriptions of "Vivo Vivaldi" and Concerto Grosso in A Minor by Antonio Vivaldi, "Gainsborough" by Thomas Gauger, "Blue Rhythm Quintet" by Anthony Korf and "Drops of Rain" by UO graduate student Melissa Spiteri-Stark.

The University Gospel Ensemble, Gospel Choir and Gospel Singers, all under the direction of adjunct music instructor Cedric Weary, will sing traditional and contemporary gospel music at 6 p.m. in Beall Concert Hall.

Tickets, available at the door, are $5 for general admission and $3 for students and senior citizens.

The Gospel Choir will sing "How Much We Can Bear" by Hezekiah Walker, "Battlefield" by Norman Hutchins, "Joy" and "Stomp" by Kirk Franklin and "I Am" by Kevin Davidson. The Gospel Singers will sing "So Glad" by Daryl Coley, "Sign Me Up" by Donald Lawrence and "I'm Not Afraid" by Lamar Campbell.

The Gospel Ensemble will sing "When I Think About You" by Campbell and Fred Hammond, "Good Thang" by John Kee, "More Than Anything" and "So Good" by Campbell and "Use Me" by Hammond.

Keyboardists Cedric Weary and Allan Frieson, guitarists Jerry Rempel and Corwin Bolt, drummer Mike Z and bassist Zak Johnson will be the featured players.
