Today at 11:30 A.M.: Grand Opening Set for Springwood Youth Center.KENT, Wash. -- The Springwood spring·wood n. Young, usually soft wood that lies directly beneath the bark and develops in early spring. Youth Center will be unveiled at 11:30 a.m. today. The ribbon-cutting event will take place in the new two-story 10,800 square foot facility located at the Springwood Apartments, a 321-unit public housing development located on the East Hill of Kent.

What: Community celebration, ribbon-cutting and grand opening
event. This is an in-service day for teachers, so lots
of kids are expected to attend the event. Also - a
good photo op for TV cameras. A grand finale will take
place with kids and our basketball celebrities.

DIRECTIONS: Take I-5 to the Highway 516 exit (south of SeaTac) for
Kent-Des Moines Road. On Highway 516, go down the hill
toward Kent. Highway 516 becomes Willis Street. You
will pass under the Valley Freeway (Highway 167). At
the end of the road, (a T junction), turn left onto
Central Avenue, go five blocks and turn right onto
Smith Street (Hwy 516). Up the hill, Smith Street
becomes Kent-Kangley Road. Continue on Highway 516
(Kent-Kangley Road) to 132nd Avenue SE (a large Safeway
Store will be on the right). Turn Right onto 132nd
Street and go one block. The Springwood Apartments
complex is on the right. The Springwood Youth Center,
located at 12910 SE 273rd St. in Kent, is about a 1/4
mile from the entrance of the complex.
