During the second quarter, Tivoli gained significant industry support for TME. Tivoli joined Oracle Corporation and DBMX Ltd. in a three-way marketing agreement that will make TME-based database administration for Oracle customers available through a solution to be developed by DBMX. This relationship, together with TME-based database administration tools marketed by Sybase and Informix, provides Tivoli coverage of all three leading RDBMS (Relational DataBase Management System) See relational database and DBMS.

In April, Tivoli launched its applications management strategy by announcing the Applications Management Specification (AMS AMS - Andrew Message System ), which is intended to provide a consistent, standard way for creating, "management-ready" client/server applications that automatically connect to TME. Eight leading application development tools vendors including Dynasty, Forte, Informix, Intersolv, Sybase/Powersoft, Oracle, Softool, and Unify, have announced that they support the strategy and will incorporate AMS compatibility into future versions of their products. Tivoli also announced that it expects to provide AMS compatibility for SAP AG's R/3 system in the third quarter of 1995. "We are delighted with the rapid and enthusiastic reception that AMS has received from the industry," indicated Moss. "We believe we are well positioned to play a leadership role in overcoming one of the last major barriers to the widespread deployment of mission-critical client/server systems -- managing users' applications."
