The company's tire uniformity machines may be retrofitted with the Series LSH-2401 (laser sensor head) non-contact sensors. The patented Fast Light Control Circuit allows a 16 KHz sample rate with instantaneous adjustment from white letters to black rubber without loss of resolution, since it is insensitive to ambient light surface texture or color changes, according to the company. The LSH 2401 sensors are specifically designed to replace capacitive or other type sensors on existing TUO machines for tight work areas and high speed profiling of problematic materials. Benefits of the LSH 2401 sensor are said to include its small footprint sensor head for tight work areas and robust design for industrial environments. The sensor has a measurement range of 20 mm (0.79 in.) or 50 mm (1.97 in.) and standoff distances of 50 mm (1.97 in.) or 80 mm (3.15 in.). Besides bulge and dent, the LSH 2401 sensor can also be used to profile green rubber, splice width, radial runout and numerous other on- or off-line applications.
