Tire Technology Expo 2005 planned.

Tire Technology Expo 2005, organized by UKIP Media and Events, will take place February 22-24 at the Koln Messe Exhibition Center in Cologne Germany. Exhibitors are said to be covering the full spectrum of tire manufacturing technology, from tire building machines to extruders and measurement systems to release chemicals.

The Tire Technology Conference, running at the same time as the expo, will bring together over 100 experts from some of the world's leading research institutes and centers of excellence to present a range of tire technology topics, according to organizers.

Session subject matter will include materials, the intelligent tire, modeling and simulation techniques and the latest developments in polymer technology.

Highlights among the presentations on the first day of the conference will include Frank Feher of Goodyear Chemical's address on nanotechnology, BMW's report on progress on run flat tires, Jaguar's news on tires for active chassis technology and Pirelli's presentation, "Data from tires as a full system to be used in the vehicle."

Sessions to be presented on the second day of the conference will include, "Making materials matter more," "Towards the intelligent tire," "Tire modeling," and "Tire manufacturing." Yokohama Rubber will present a talk on "Intelligent TPMS for new stability control systems." Jukka Hakanen of Nokian Tires will present, "RoadSnoop tire monitoring."

Sessions on the last day will include, "Vehicle/tire/road interface," "Tires and the environment," "Tire forensics and tire legislation," and "Noise and comfort." Highlights will include Shoji Oida of Bridgestone's presentation on "Prediction of traction performance considering soil/tire interaction," and John Bullas from the University of Southampton's "Investigations on the effect of non-ABS locked wheel braking on road surfaces."

Tire Technology Expo 2005 has over 110 exhibitors confirmed to participate. The expo is said to be the most important annual industry event held in Europe for senior managers, engineers and directors involved with tire design, tire development, tire manufacturing and tire production, according to organizers.
