This body type is considered the ideal body type, as this is an person with a "well-formed physique" who has little problem gaining or losing weight.

Once you have set realistic goals for yourself as a weightlifting beginner, you must learn the language.

Two basic terms that are necessary to learn from the beginning are "reps" and "sets".

You have been mislead and down right lied to by some of the most successful masters of deception alive today. You are probably not even aware that the bodybuilding industry is robbing you of your hard-earned efforts, it's embarrassing your commitment and motivation, and most importantly, it's stealing your money, and crushing the results you should be getting at the gym.

One of the most effective ways to prepare your body and really build muscle fast is to use a technique known as 'visualization'. All you need to do is to sit down before you actually do the physical exercise, close your eyes, and imagine yourself working out. The more detail, the better.

Lifting weights is an efficient exercise, and it is surprisingly versatile. With just a single weight machine, you can do a number of different exercises, and you'll find that including one into your home gym is a great way to get started. Don't be embarrassed if you need to start with an empty barbell. Everyone had to start somewhere, and you'll find that adding weight gradually, you'll not only avoid hurting yourself, but you'll also find that you'll be able to set a pattern for steady and controlled muscle gain.

There are so many myths out there that your head is probably spinning. You have listened to the magazines and the supplement companies and the so called "experts" who have never trained a single person in their lives, yet pump out articles and books about building muscle like they are some kind of all knowing authority. And your wallets probably a lot lighter too.

Finally, the last issue that many individuals don't realize effects muscle building is that of stress. When you are in a highly stressed state, the body is going to show a great release of cortisol. Cortisol is basically the hormone that opposes muscle building and will serve to actually break tissues down to use for energy.

So for instance if you were doing squats, you would pile up the bar with as much weight as you figured you could complete 8-12 individual reps with. Then you would get under the bar and move slowly and methodically rep after rep until your body could no longer lift the weight up. At that point you would slowly lower the weight down to the safety pins on the cage and walk away knowing that you had shocked your body into responding by creating new muscle.
