Timing is everything in Swatch's valuable Olympic sponsorship.


Swatch AG, a unit of the world's largest watchmaker, will likely benefit from Olympics publicity more than any other main sponsor because of the company's designation as official timekeeper of the Athens games.

Swatch, based in Biel, Switzerland, is permitted by the International Olympic Committee “IOC” redirects here. For other uses, see IOC (disambiguation).

"As the official timer timer,

, Swatch gets more recognition than any of the other sponsors," Andrews said. "I know that some of the other sponsors would love to have that kind of exposure."

Swatch is spending about $150 million to be a so-called Olympic Partner through the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, or about $75 million per Olympic four-year cycle, said Andrews, who bases his estimates on other contracts he has seen.
