New Web-based software advances corporate, HR business

intelligence efforts with visual appeal

TimeVision Inc., the market leader in providing Internet/intranet-based organizational charting software, announced today the release of OrgPublisher for Intranets(tm) 4, the first "visual knowledge management" software available to managers and corporate users needing desktop access to enterprise data. The Web-based application transforms data into strategic information via its intranet-based organizational-charting features, powerful, simple-language querying, advanced Extensible Markup Language (XML) connectivity and more.

The software, generally available in July and available to download as a beta version at request by sending an e-mail message to [e-mail], combines the power of database technology with the inherent value of interactive Internet-based org-charting: it is affordable, ubiquitous and graphically appealing.

Visualizing Real Faces, Real People: Org Charting

OrgPublisher uses existing data to automatically generate graphical depictions of a company in the form of organizational charts published to an intranet. Data can be accessed from virtually any database, including IBM, Microsoft, Oracle and enterprise-resource planning (ERP) systems such as SAP and PeopleSoft. Via any Web browser, users can view org charts, access on-line employee directories, view employee profiles and investigate "open position" opportunities.

depending on how in-depth a company, division or departments prefers to display
its structure. This offers users absolute control over the graphical display of
company hierarchical structure.

- Assistants with direct reports, extends org charts beyond traditional
hierarchies. This feature adds flexibility to ever-changing, ever-evolving
corporate structures.

Turning Data into Knowledge

TimeVision introduces "visual knowledge management" geared for individuals that need information in a hurry and in a format they can see and understand. - Save search results as Groups, which are used for on-the-fly data

analysis, such as assessing hiring trends, tenure and tracking

contract staff

- Share and distribute Groups with other employees to increase

efficiency for instances, identification of employees with special

skill sets or tracking corporate open positions by region

Internet/intranets, ERP and XML

OrgPublisher 4 adds XML connectivity and continues to integrate with ODBC-compliant databases and LDAP-compliant directory servers. It can also automatically generate organizational charts and publish to the Internet or corporate intranets using any data source, from comma-delimited text files to enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, such as GEAC, Oracle, PeopleSoft, SAP and Tesseract. Hundreds of Timevision customers such as American Airlines, Evans & Sutherland and Ralston Purina Co. publish org charts in these environments.

XML furthers the software's flexibility and enterprise connectivity, said Ross Melbourne, co-founder and chief technology officer at TimeVision. "OrgPublisher uses XML as it originally was intended, as a data-description and transport technology. "By far, the biggest business-to-business communication problem today is getting computer program 'A' to talk and pass data to computer program 'B.' XML is the solution. OrgPublisher 4 is priced based on the number of persons charted, starting at a list price of $1,050 for 100 persons charted. Individual quotes are available for charting needs beyond 20,000 persons charted. OrgPublisher's Personal Edition, which is for departmental use or use by smaller companies wishing to create org charts without enterprise connectivity, is available for $450.
