Horticulture generally refers to small-scale gardening, and agriculture to the growing of field crops, usually on a large and informative references, and these latest releases add a host of fine new references to the pack. Christopher Lee's Meadows (0881926280, $29.95) may look like a coffee table book with Jonathan Buckley's bright color photos gracing cover and interior; but it's much more. 'Wild Gardening' is promoted, from harboring aggressive grasses and meadow meadow grassland, used for grazing and/or haying. meadow buttercup ranunculusacris. meadow crowfoot ranunculusacris. meadow rue see thalictrum. plants to establishing a prairie prairie Level or rolling grassland, especially that found in central North America. Wildflowers are the source of all cultivated garden varieties of flowers. A wildflower growing where it is unwanted is considered a weed. habitat; and this means Meadows comes packed not only with color photos but specific tips on how to create a naturally-appearing meadow environment from scratch. Keith Wiley's On The Wild Side (0881926361, $34.95) goes even further, promoting wild flower colonies and natural landscapes based on his inspirations from rural England and world settings. Chapters in On The Wild Side explore different plant groups, how they occur in the wild, and how they may be translated to a garden setting. Or, incorporate greenery into one's very living quarters with the help of Nigel Dunnett and Noel Kingsbury's Planting Green Roofs And Living Walls (088192640X, $34.95), an innovative horticultural hor·ti·cul·ture n. 1. The science or art of cultivating fruits, vegetables, flowers, or ornamental plants. 2. The cultivation of a garden. field which teaches how to blend greenery with roofs and walls. Both large-scale and small domestic examples from around the world show how green roofs may be created and maintained without compromising either roof nor garden. All three of these outstanding titles from Timber Press are excellent gardening references. |
