STOCKHOLM Stockholm (stŏk`hôlm'), city (1995 pop. 692,954), capital of Sweden and of Stockholm co., E Sweden, situated where Lake Mälaren flows into the Baltic Sea. , Sweden--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 28, 2000

The Town of Helsingborg Helsingborg or Hälsingborg (both: hĕlsĭngbôr`yə), city (1990 pop. 81,165), Malmöhus co., S Sweden, a seaport on the Øresund, connected by ferry with Helsingør, Denmark.  Makes New Efforts in Its Focus On E-commerce e-commerce, commerce conducted over the Internet, most often via the World Wide Web. E-commerce can apply to purchases made through the Web or to business-to-business activities such as inventory transfers.

A new electronic commerce system will provide more effective purchasing routines for the town of Helsingborg.

With the new system, the local authority expects that the e-commerce will finally have its breakthrough.

The Helsingborg local authority introduced e-commerce into its operations at an early stage. The investment was started as early as 1996 and sparked off great interest with other local authorities around the country. However, the project did not have the big breakthrough that had been hoped for.

Today, the project enters the next development phase. The existing system from another supplier is now being replaced by a new solution from PEBS/TietoEnator.

"To advance further with the investment in the electronic handling of purchasing routines was a necessity for us. The routines can be essentially rationalized and this means that there is money to save," says Christina Nilsson Christina Nilsson, Countess de Casa Miranda, (August 20, 1843 – November 20, 1921) was a Swedish operatic soprano.

She was born Kristina Jonasdotter in the village of Sjöabol, near Växjö, Småland, to the peasants Jonas Nilsson and Cajsa-Stina Månsdotter.
, Chief Buyer for the town of Helsingborg. "For the staff, the work is simplified and they have more time over for other tasks," she adds.

electronically. The town of Helsingborg previously introduced the system e.Fact from TietoEnator to facilitate the digital handling of invoices and other documents.

Thanks to the agreement that has now been signed, the town of Helsingborg will now have access to the web-based commerce system FTB FTB Franchise Tax Board (California; they collect income and sales tax)
FTB Family Tax Benefit (Australian welfare assistance)
FTB First Time Buyer (housing)
. The operation of the systems is conducted from TietoEnator's department in Lund. The users access the service via the web. The message handling and the communication are managed by the integration motor Decapus which is also included in the agreement.

"Helsingborg is a local authority that has made itself known for its focus on the utilization of new technology in its operations. It is therefore especially satisfying that we have reached this agreement," says Bertil Wilen at TietoEnator.
