Tierra del Sol Golf & Country Club, located 30 miles south of Albuquerque in Belen, New Mexico, has promoted George Trujeque to General Manager. Previously, Trujeque was the Head Golf Professional, which will remain his responsibility, in addition to overseeing club management, marketing, memberships and food and beverage operations.

Trujeque has established a 29-year career in golf, education and sports management. Since graduating from Belen High School in 1964, Trujeque has worked for Belen High School and Los Lunas Consolidated Schools as a teacher and golf and soccer coach. He first came to Tierra del Sol in 1991 as the Assistant Golf Professional, before spending three years in Mexico as the Director of Golf for Club de Golf Los Lagos A.C. In 1996, Trujeque returned to Tierra del Sol and his home state of New Mexico where he lives with his wife Diane.

In related news, Rosemarie Saul-Berkley has been appointed to a newly created position as Director of Special Events, and will handle the booking and coordination of banquets, meetings and provide oversight in food & beverage operations. Previously, Berkley worked for Tierra del Sol in food and beverage, and her return brings added expertise and attention to better serve club members and the local community. Additionally, a new Superintendent, Clay Guck, was appointed this week and will be on site by the end of June. Guck is a graduate of the University of New Mexico and was the Head Superintendent at Stone Ridge Golf Club in Medford, Oregon. Previously, he was the Assistant Superintendent at Alto Lakes Golf and Country Club and Paradise Hills Golf Club, both in New Mexico.

Tierra del Sol is open to the public for golf and dining, and offers an 18-hole championship golf course and a 20,000 square foot bi-level clubhouse, swimming pool and tennis courts. The upper level contains the Manzano Room, a large 300-seat banquet and meeting room, a 40-seat Vista Room with a view overlooking the golf course, and an 82-seat restaurant and bar. The lower level holds the Scorecard Lounge, which is open daily from 7:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m., and is a favorite place of golfers and club members. The Scorecard Lounge offers a limited breakfast menu, with a more extensive lunch service. Currently, a special Summer Swim Family membership is available for $300, which provides club membership for June, July and August. Beginning this Sunday, Father's Day, June 18, the clubhouse restaurant will introduce a new Sunday Brunch menu. The expanded menu will offer the popular "Made to Order" omelet and waffle bar, along with other brunch selections.
