Ticona's Topas COC has a buyer.
The German parent of Ticona, Florence, Ky., has agreed to sell its Topas cyclo-olefin copolymer copolymer: see polymer. (COC See chip on chip. ) business to Daicel Chemical Industries Ltd. and Polyplastics Co., Ltd., both of Tokyo, Japan. Polyplastics is a joint venture of Daicel and Ticona. Daicel and Polyplastics plan to form a join venture in Germany to take over the current employees, manufacturing plant, and R&D facility. Topas COC is a clear, amorphous polymer with optical properties similar to PMMA PMMA polymethyl methacrylate. , better heat resistance than polycarbonate, and better dimensional stability than either PMMA or PC. It can be used by itself or as a modifier (programming) modifier - An operation that alters the state of an object.
