 Engineering was a two-time winner at the Thunder Bay Thunder Bay, city (1991 pop. 113,946), SW Ont., Canada, on Thunder Bay inlet of Lake Superior. The city was created in 1970 by the amalgamation of the twin cities of Fort William and Port Arthur and two adjoining townships.  Chamber of Commerce's 14th annual business awards, April 12.

The local firm shared the Commitment to Quality Award with Union Gas, then won the Business Excellence Award in the large company categories (40-plus employees).

The Business Excellence Award for small companies (1-9 employees) went to MEDI MEDI Marine Environmental Data Information Referral System  chair while Michael's Hair Design and Day Spa A day spa is a business establishment which people visit for personal care treatments such as massages and facials. It is similar to a beauty salon in that it is only visited for the duration of the treatment.  grabbed the medium company category award (10-39 employees).

The Business Excellence Award for not-for-profit organizations went to Community Living Thunder Bay.

The New Business Excellence Award was presented to The Whole Nine Yards while Newcap Radio and Barewood Furniture grabbed the Ambassador Award and Looking Good Award respectively.

Thunder Bay Public Library The Thunder Bay Public Library serves the citizens of Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada and surrounding areas. History
The library got its start when the Port Arthur Library opened a Mechanics' Institute in the schoolhouse in 1876. Membership fees were $20.00 for life or $2.
 won the Quality of Life Award with Confederation College receiving the Environmental Stewardship Award.

Local lawyer and community volunteer Jim Johnson was given the Charles J. Carter Award of Excellence.
