Thunder Bay's net migration improves, yet still negative.


Although recent figures indicate a slowing of out-migration in Thunder Bay Thunder Bay, city (1991 pop. 113,946), SW Ont., Canada, on Thunder Bay inlet of Lake Superior. The city was created in 1970 by the amalgamation of the twin cities of Fort William and Port Arthur and two adjoining townships.  there is a need for migration in the region to help offset the falling population numbers in northwestern Ontario Northwestern Ontario is the region within the Canadian province of Ontario which lies north and west of Lake Superior, and west of Hudson Bay and James Bay. It includes most of subarctic Ontario. , CMHC CMHC community mental health center.  analysts say.

Thunder Bay experienced a drop of 1, 131 people in 1999-2000, but figures rose the following year to minus 233 and fell again in the subsequent year to minus 336.
