Michelangelo Signorile Michelangelo Signorile, pronounced "seen-yoh-RILL-ee", (born December 19, 1960), is a gay American writer and a national talk radio host whose program is aired each weekday across the United States and Canada.  just doesn't seem to get it ["The Preacher Lied," October 24]. Whether he wants to acknowledge it or not, religion has been at the root of GLBT GLBT Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgendered  inequality in this country. The GLBT community has ignored the religious impulses of our nation for way too long, perhaps to our own detriment. Groups like HRC HRC Human Rights Campaign

HRC Human Rights Commission
HRC Hard Rock Cafe
HRC Hillary Rodham Clinton (democratic senator/presidential candidate; former first lady) 
 and people like Harry Knox are now at the forefront of working with faith communities and religious people of goodwill all across this country to change hearts and minds concerning our issues. We should be thanking HRC for their willingness to put leadership and resources into their Religion and Faith program. It can be hard and aggravating ag·gra·vate

 work, but the reward and potential for doing such work is great.

Signorile may not appreciate the importance and practice of faith by many well-meaning people in our country, including many GLBT people, but he should stay out of the way and let the GLBT-affirming people who do offer their best witness for faith and justice build relationships that will deepen understanding, and he should quit throwing antagonistic stones from the sidelines.
