Three new journals launched by MIT Press.MIT MIT - Massachusetts Institute of Technology Press (Cambridge, MA) has begun the publication of three new quarterly journals with Winter 2006 issues, including "Biological Theory," "Education Finance and Policy" and "Innovations," a title that deals with the interaction between technology and governance. "Innovations: Technology, Governance & Globalization globalization Process by which the experience of everyday life, marked by the diffusion of commodities and ideas, is becoming standardized around the world. Factors that have contributed to globalization include increasingly sophisticated communications and transportation " covers both policy challenges and proposed policy solutions, including the application of innovations in the global context. MIT said that content brings together accounts (narratives), accounting (indicators) and accountability (governance), with the journal targeted to public servants whose method is entrepreneurial, entrepreneurs whose projects have a "public conscience," innovators interested in analysis and scholars interested in innovations. The premier issue includes feature articles on: the transformation to a cash economy; funding invention for sustainability; the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative A public-private partnership dedicated to producing a preventive vaccine against HIV infection, suitable for use in the most affected developing countries. To date, no such vaccine exists but scientific consensus suggests that its development is feasible. ; creating markets for vaccines; and patent proposals for global diseases. An annual online subscription costs $130 while a combined online/print subscription costs $145. "Biological Theory" focuses on theoretical advances in the fields of evolution and cognition with an emphasis on evolutionary and developmental approaches.
