Three new journals from Springer.

To be launched later this year, "Evolutionary Intelligence" is a quarterly journal that will cover the theoretical and practical aspects of the use of population-based search for artificial intelligence. It will include editorial on artificial neural networks, fuzzy systems, rule-based systems, statistical approaches, AI systems, and hybrid systems that combine evolutionary computation with other AI techniques.

Springer has also begun the publication of "NanoEthics: Ethics for Technologies that Converge at the Nanoscale," a multidisciplinary title designed to explore ethical issues related to nanotechnology. Content examines both the ethical and societal considerations as well as the public and policy concerns inherent in nanotechnology research and development. Content covers environmental and health aspects, social and economic consequences, threats to culture and tradition and to political and economic stability.

Also, Springer's Humana Press (Totowa, NJ) unit will launch "Journal of Ocular Biology, Diseases and Informatics" with an issue in March 2008. The journal will cover all aspects of research on ocular biology, including basic biology, clinical trials and new advances in etiology, genetics, and progression of a range of eye diseases. Humana said the title will carry multidisciplinary information and research and articles "that bring the power of bioinformatics to the study of ocular development, structure and diseases."
