Sometimes I think you

live in my chest,

a white clematis

in the lattice of my ribs.

Where the body is pierced,

white blossoms flower.

 September Saturday,

a field of tall, white-haired thistles

rose to meet us in a clearing

out from under the Cathedral Pines.

White seeds covered the ground,

clung to our pants' legs and boots,

catching us in healing white webs.

Amaryllis amaryllis (ăm'ərĭl`ĭs), common name for some members of the Amaryllidaceae, a family of mostly perennial plants with narrow, flat leaves and with lilylike flowers borne on separate, leafless stalks.
