She stated that she is not quite sure what she'll do with the money, but said that her family definitely would know how to spend it, Beaber added, "especially my 23 year old granddaughter." John Davis, a grocery store clerk from Lynwood, walked away with $60,000 which he plans to use on a trip to the Virgin Islands. Monica Jones Margaret Monica Beale Jones (22 May 1922 – 15 February 2001) was an English academic and career-long companion to poet Philip Larkin.

She and Larkin had a holiday cottage at Haydon Bridge where they spent many blissful summers together.
