Thought police.I am writing in response to the article about Aaron Price being found not guilty of a hate crime in Georgia [The Nation, July 22]. Hallelujah Hallelujah (hăl'əl `yə) or Alleluia (ăl–) [Heb.,=praise the Lord], joyful expression used in Hebrew worship; cf. Pss. ! Finally, a jury and judge with some common sense. If you commit a violent crime, you should be punished, period. The motive of a crime only matters to people because they want to be and remain victims, and that gives them the title of 'victim" forever. Years ago, when I first heard about hate-crimes legislation, I could not believe my ears and thought to myself that no rational, logical person would go for this. But wrong I was, and it saddens me so. Hate-crimes laws are one of the most irrational ir·ra·tion·aladj. Not rational; marked by a lack of accord with reason or sound judgment. irrational adjective Unreasonable, illogical , idiotic things I have heard of. It boggles my mind that some people cannot see this and keep buying into it.
