in helping to promote and further the careers of Pittsburgh's Hispanic-American legal community," said Douglas E. Gilbert, Managing Partner of Thorp Reed & Armstrong. "It is important that Thorp Reed, as well as other area firms and attorneys, continue to seek out and develop legal talent in every possible area."

The committee plans to encourage the development of the area's growing Hispanic legal community. It will represent the interests of Hispanic lawyers, judges, law professors, and law students, among others.

"As part of the ACBA, we're in a better position to develop and implement programs and mentoring that will better serve the Pittsburgh-area. The larger legal community in Pittsburgh can only benefit by tapping the broad range of skills available to them with local Hispanic-American legal talent and potential legal talent."

The committee's goals are rightly aligned with those of ACBA, which works to improve the legal profession through community involvement and working for justice in society, including the promotion of diversity through projects and programs.

"We are looking forward to working with our newest committee to create new opportunities for Pittsburgh's Hispanic community," said David A. Blaner, Executive Director of the Allegheny County Bar Association. "The initiatives sponsored by the Hispanic Attorney's Committee are designed not only to promote local attorneys, but also benefit the Pittsburgh legal community-at-large."
