Thomson group buys Information for Industry.


Thomson Legal & Regulatory Group Europe Europe (yr`əp), 6th largest continent, c.4,000,000 sq mi (10,360,000 sq km) including adjacent islands (1992 est. pop. 512,000,000).  (TLRGE) this month acquired, for an undisclosed sum, Information for Industry Ltd., a leading U.K. publisher of environmental information. Key titles in the IFI IFI International Financial Institutions (IMF, World Bank, etc.)

IFI Industrial Fasteners Institute
 portfolio include Environment Business Magazine, Environment Business News Briefing, Environmental Compliance Manual, the newsletter Air Quality Management, and a web site featuring Joblink.co.uk, a highly successful online recruitment service.

Information for Industry will come under TLRGE's U.K. regulatory business, called GEE gee 1

Information for Industry was represented in the transaction by The van Tulleken Company, an advisor to corporate clients on M&As in the publishing and information industries.

Since last July, van Tulleken--with offices in London and New York-has represented J Whitaker & Sons Ltd. in its acquisition of BPI (Bits Per Inch) The measurement of the number of bits stored in one linear inch of a track (storage channel) on a disk or tape.
