Thomson buys major drug information service.


The Thomson Corporation recently acquired the privately held, U.K.-based Current Drugs Ltd., a global leader in the delivery of integrated competitor intelligence services to the research solutions market serving the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry.

Current Drugs provides databases, systems and services such as the Investigational Drugs database, the premier service for scientists and business executives involved in drug research and development.

The van Tulleken Company represented Current Drugs Ltd. in the transaction, the financial terms of which were not disclosed dis·close

Current Drugs will become part of the Scientific & Healthcare operating group within Thomson and will continue to be run by its current business management group led by Ian Tarr, reporting directly to Thomson Scientific Thomson Scientific is one of the five operating divisions of the Thomson Corporation.
