LTP publishes a variety of books and materials in ELT, including business English Business English is English especially related to international trade. It is a specialism within English language learning and teaching; for example, the teachers' organisation IATEFL has a special interest group called BESIG. , with a focus on sales in Europe and the UK. Heinle serves as the product development center for Thomson's global ELT operations and produces books, software and multimedia products for learners and educators. The company said the acquisition of LTP "marks a continued commitment ... to invest in the development of new global ELT products" and expand sales and marketing operations.

Heinle president Dennis Hogan said the deal "allows us to accomplish our corporate mission of bringing language solutions to a greater global audience.
