This was my idea!

Here at GL, we always have just one person in mind when we create each issue--you. And, like any good friend, we're always open to suggestions. This past May, we asked over 1,000 GL girls what you most wanted Most Wanted may refer to:
  • Lists used by law enforcement agencies to alert the public, such as the FBI Ten Most Wanted Fugitives and FBI Most Wanted Terrorists
  • America's Most Wanted, a U.S.
to see in the back-to-school issue. And, girl, did you have answers ...

"I think what you need are articles about how to not get lost in a huge high school. And how to keep your middle school friends close. And how to get organized!"--Emily J., Colorado

"Give us tips to boost our confidence in making new friends this year!" Georgia W., Indiana

"I'll be starting high school in August. How do I get good grades and still have a social life? How do I balance it all?"--Hilary K., Florida

"Easy but cute hairstyles to do in the morning!"--Kristina B., Massachusetts

"Cool and inexpensive bags to carry your books around in!"--Sarah M., Colorado

Shout-out to Sarah: How about if we not only find 31 totally adorable a·dor·a·ble
adj.
1. Delightful, lovable, and charming: an adorable set of twins.

2. Worthy of adoration.
totes Totes (more fully Totes»ISOTONER) is a corporation that sells umbrellas, gloves, rubber rain boots, and other similar accessories. Its headquarters is in Cincinnati, Ohio.  for you to choose from but give over 150 of them away, too? Does that work for ya? Thought sot

We've spent every waking moment of the last two months working on this issue, Our fearless fashion editor Heather let thousands of clothing items and accessories overtake o·ver·take

every room in her house (I literally tripped over the cutest pair of shoes, see below!). Our writers spent countless hours gathering the best advice on everything from cliques to classes, We even had a team create the coolest locker ideas you've ever seen (thanks, Sommer Sommer is a surname, from the German and Danish word for the season "summer".

It may refer to:
  • Alfred Sommer (ophthalmologist) (born 1943), American academic
  • António de Sommer Champalimaud
  • Barbara Sommer (born 1948), German politician (CDU)
!).

Of course, at the end of the day, we had to make some hard choices. Our short story had to once again be sacrificed (but, don't worry, fiction is back next issue!). We had a really cute My Room decorated, but when Jordyn sent us an e-mail on behalf of all you homeschoolers out there, asking us to take her back-to-sofa schooling style in consideration, well ... buh-bye, bedroom. Actually, I am typing this really fast before someone else has another great idea and this page is booted boot·ed

Wearing boots.

Adj. 1. booted - wearing boots

 out of the magazine!

My point is, things are always changing. I remember lying in bed the night before high school, kind of excited but also thinking, "Nothing will ever be the same again." Sure, most of my best friends were going to my school. I knew some of the upperclassmen. Heck, I even knew a couple teachers. But, somehow, I also knew things would change. Classes would be harder, my friends would make other new friends (and I would, too), and we'd all suddenly be pulled in a million new directions. It's easy to stress out thinking about all that. But here's the thing: You only get one shot at this school year. As hard as it is to imagine, someday some·day
adv.
At an indefinite time in the future.

Usage Note: The adverbs someday and sometime express future time indefinitely: We'll succeed someday. Come sometime.
you won't be in school. We at GL want you to be able look back and think about all the great things that happened because you took chances and rolled with the changes.

This was ideal

Emily J., 14 Staying close

Georgia W., 12 Making friends

Hilary K., 14 Good grades

Kristina B., 13 Easy hair

Sarah M., 15 Cool bags
