Procrastination, or putting things off until the last possible moment, is the way lots of students function. They seem only to study for tests or write papers when things are down to the wire. Is it a smart use of time? Absolutely not. Even though students may know about deadlines way in advance, they still find themselves unprepared and struggling to play catch-up catch-up

For many students, procrastination is a way of life. They don't just wait until the last minute to study for tests; projects, book reports, or term papers receive the same late treatment. This causes the quality of their work to suffer and they find themselves stressed out.

If you've been guilty of procrastination, there are things you can do to change. According to according to

* Set Priorities--School and your classes should be your first priority and should come before any other activities, such as going to the movies or a party.

* Take Responsibility--Be proactive and divide your tasks into two groups--overwhelming and small. Do the small tasks first and work your way up to the more difficult ones.

* Be Realistic--Don't get involved in too many organizations or activities where you're spreading yourself too thin. Always make time for your studies.

* Make a Schedule--Use organizers, calendars, planners, or "to do lists" to set schedules and list all your schoolwork and the date that it's due. Having an organized workplace or desk area also helps you to get things done effectively.

* Get Motivated--Work with a friend to motivate each other. Sometimes working with other students can help you get your work done on time.
