 market in 1998, Canon has listened to the requests and requirements of cinematographers, directors of photography and videographers to create a new professional digital camcorder that satisfies the high demands of broadcast television and filmmaking. The new Canon XL1S provides the best picture quality and performance among MiniDV camcorders. It has enhanced picture set-up controls that professionals prefer and need, and it uses a variety of interchangeable lenses -- from extra wide angle to telephoto to super-telescopic -- that exclusively deliver the right lens for any situation.

The new Canon XL1S kit will be available in late August at authorized Canon dealers for a suggested list price of $4,699. The Canon XL1S kit will include the camera body, 16x IS II Zoom Lens, Color Viewfinder The preview window on a camera that is used to frame, focus and take the picture. On analog cameras, the viewfinder is an eye-sized window that must be pressed against the face. The Canon XL1S Body kit will include the camera body, CA-910 Compact Power Adapter, DC-900 DC Coupler, BP-930 Battery Pack, WL-D3000 Remote Controller, SP-100 Shoulder Brace, SS-1000 Shoulder Strap, S-150 S-Video Cable and STV-150 Stereo Video Cable.
