The CEF standard is an open log management standard that improves the interoperability of security-related information from different security and network devices and applications. CEF provides technology companies and customers an extensible, text-based, high-performance format designed to support any source of event logs needed to gain a comprehensive view of an organization's security and compliance posture.

"With the addition of the first HIPS endpoint security solution to the CEF ecosystem, customers can capture host-level security-related event information and correlate it with 170+ data sources from over 25 different categories in order to respond more effectively to security threats," said Robert Ma, Vice President of Product Marketing at ArcSight.
