Thief River.


Thief River The Thief River is a tributary of the Red Lake River in northwestern Minnesota in the United States. Via the Red Lake River, the Red River of the North, Lake Winnipeg and the Nelson River, it is part of the watershed of Hudson Bay.  * Written by Lee Blessing Lee Blessing (born October 4 1949) is an American playwright.

His best-known play is A Walk in the Woods, which depicts the developing relationship between two arms limitation negotiators, one Russian and one American, over years of negotiation.
 * Directed by Mark Lamos Mark Lamos (born March 10 1946) is a Tony Award-winning American theatre director, producer, and actor.

Born in Chicago, Illinois, Lamos studied violin and ballet at an early age and attended Northwestern University on a music scholarship.

Lee Blessing's Thief River portrays a love between two men that spans 53 years. As teenagers, Gil and Ray are secret lovers in small-town Minnesota. We first glimpse First Glimpse is a monthly consumer electronics magazine published by Sandhills Publishing Company in Lincoln, Nebraska, USA. The magazine was known as CE Lifestyles before a name change in early 2006.  them on the night of their prom in 1948. Gil, who everybody knows is "special," has just been beaten up by the class bully. Straight-acting Ray arrives to clean him up and urges him to leave town. Twenty-five years later, Gil returns with a young boyfriend in tow and disrupts the rehearsal for Ray's son's wedding. In the interim, Ray has raised a family yet has written every week to Gil, pouring out his soul. The letters have stopped, and Gil shows up both to find out why and to talk Ray into rekindling their affair. We meet them again as old men brought together to tie up loose ends and compare notes on the road not taken.

The trick to the play (which at press time was scheduled to close June 17) is that rather than unfolding chronologically, these scenes overlap and interweave. Gil and Ray are each played by three actors of different ages, and it all takes place in a farmhouse haunted by generations of secrets and violence. As a storytelling Storytelling

 exercise, it's ingenious and efficiently staged by Mark Lamos. Unfortunately, the characters remain theoretical constructs. Blessing knows how to write fine speeches--"We're born alone, we die alone, and every moment of our lives is a chance not to be alone"--but views gay life from the outside in.
