They just keep on going and going and going...The Ozark Chapter of ASMC has participated in the Missouri Special Olympics for more than 10 years. They average 20 members--Caring Comptrollers, they call themselves--who volunteer their time every year to this worthy event. Members take part in such activities as basketball, ring toss, beanbag toss, and other booth games. And all agree: It's difficult to tell who has more fun--the participants or the volunteers. And the chapter's community service doesn't stop with the Special Olympics, either. Other recent Caring Comptroller activities found chapter members providing workshops at the Pulaski County Crisis Center, conducting a coat and food drive for The Good Samaritan Resource Center, volunteering at the Missouri Ozark Community Action (MOCA) Back to School Fair, visiting an area nursing home, participating in a reading/mentoring program in area schools, and collecting donations and walking at the Relay for Life sponsored by the American Cancer Society. Move over, little bunny; Ozark Chapter is energized and rarin' to go! |
