They Might Be Giants know where they will be welcome.

Byline: POP NOTES By Tyler Mack The Register-Guard

After 20 years of music that crosses genres and generations, They Might Be Giants are still college campus kings. So, where else would they play besides campus?

The indie-pop-grunge band, which brought us the catchy theme song to "Malcolm in the Middle Malcolm in the Middle is a seven-time Emmy-winning,[1] one-time Grammy-winning[1] and seven-time Golden Globe-nominated[1] American sitcom created by Linwood Boomer for the Fox Network. " and won a Grammy in 2002, slides into Agate Hall on Saturday for an 8 p.m. show.

In 2002, the band grabbed a new audience and a new generation of followers with the release of its first children's album, "No!" It debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Children's Chart.

The Johns have since worked on other children's projects while completing and releasing their eighth full-length album, "The Spine."

The Agate Hall gig is an all-ages show, but it's not likely that the band will be rocking the college campus with their ABC's.

With any luck, you'll hear "Istanbul (Not Constantinople)' and other hits that made them famous and got them gigs providing music for "The Daily Show With Jon Stewart" and the "Doctor Evil" song for "Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged shag 1

California Guitar Trio California Guitar Trio (CGT) is a band of three guitar players founded in 1991. Paul Richards of Salt Lake City, Utah, Bert Lams of Brussels, Belgium, and Hideyo Moriya of Tokyo, Japan first met in England at one of Robert Fripp's Guitar Craft Courses in 1987.

Actually, only one of the trio is from the United States: Paul Richards of Utah. The other two are Bert Lams from Belgium and Hideyo Moriya from Tokyo.

The trio's international perspectives reinforce the diversity that each member brings to the group. Similarly, their style swings from classical to rock to California surf music.

The trio tours incessantly, often with Peter Gabriel's bassist and stick player Tony Levin and King Crimson drummer Pat Mastelotto. This show - part of a tour in support of the band's new album, "Whitewater," produced by Levin - also features Trillian Green percussionist Jarrod Kaplan.

Another guitar trio, this one headed by Eugene native David Jacobs-Strain and featuring Jarrod Kaplan and Will Lydgate, will get things going at 8 p.m. at Cozmic Pizza, 199 W. Eighth Ave. Tickets are on a sliding scale cost of $10 to $15.
