Thermo acquires maker of online elemental analyzers.

San Diego, CA 9/26/06--Thermo Electron has acquired the business and assets of Analyser Systems (ASYS). Based in Escondido, California, ASYS manufactures online elemental analyzers for the cement, coal and minerals industries. "With the acquisition of ASYS, Thermo further enhances its leadership in providing online analysis and measurement of bulk materials," stated Thermo Electron Process Instruments President Ken Berger.

ASYS' products include the Elemental Belt Analyzer (EBA), which uses Prompt Gamma Neutron Activation Analysis (PGNAA) for real-time analysis of the elemental composition of bulk materials. The company's AM-EBA combines the EBA with ash and moisture meters for the analysis of coal streams.
